Bid Costing Specialist / Cost Estimator.

Helvetica Search is supporting one of its clients, a recognised industrial player in the development of high-precision technological solutions, in recruiting a Bid Costing Specialist / Cost Estimator.

At the heart of projects and tender responses, you will play a strategic role in the preparation, analysis and validation of cost estimates.

Working closely with the sales, technical, purchasing, finance and production teams, you will directly contribute to the competitiveness of bids and the management of financial risks in projects.

Your main responsibilities

• Develop, consolidate and validate commercial bid costings, from initial analysis to final submission.
• Build and maintain detailed industrial cost models including labour, raw materials, external purchases, manufacturing, tooling, testing and development costs (NRE).
• Analyse cost structures, identify key variation factors and challenge technical and financial assumptions.
• Conduct should-cost analyses, benchmarking and comparisons with historical data.
• Evaluate supplier bids and identify cost optimisation opportunities.
• Anticipate financial risks related to price changes, production volumes and industrial constraints.
• Prepare and present cost analyses during internal reviews and contribute to pricing decisions.
• Ensure coordination of costing data with Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, Production and Sales teams.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of costing tools, methods and processes.

Your profile

• You have significant experience in cost estimation, bid costing, industrial costing, cost engineering or project cost analysis.
• You possess a solid understanding of industrial processes, cost structures and economic challenges related to complex technical projects.
• You master the construction and analysis of cost models integrating various industrial components.
• You have excellent skills in Excel and financial and cost modelling tools.
• You are able to analyse complex data, identify inconsistencies and propose relevant solutions.
• You appreciate cross-functional work and know how to collaborate with technical, financial and commercial stakeholders.
• You demonstrate rigour, autonomy, analytical thinking and excellent organisational skills.
• You are fluent in English in a professional environment.

Skills that will make a difference:

• Experience in the aerospace, space, defence sectors or in a high-technology industry.
• Knowledge of industrial tender response processes.
• Experience with Basis of Estimate (BOE) methodologies and should-cost analyses.
• Good command of SAP/S4HANA or costing-dedicated tools.
• Understanding of development, industrialisation and serial production costs.
