Construction Manager Building Construction (m/f/d)

Role:

On behalf of a client, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for an experienced professional for the construction management and execution planning of demanding architectural and building construction projects in Zurich and the surrounding area. You will accompany architecturally high-quality construction projects from detailed planning through tendering to successful realisation and handover. The focus is on coordinating construction execution, ensuring quality, costs and deadlines, as well as the constructive and precise implementation of architectural concepts. The position combines technical construction management, architectural quality awareness and independent project handling in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary planning and construction management team.

Responsibilities:

• Independent construction management of demanding building construction projects in new construction, renovation and refurbishment with a focus on architecturally and structurally high-quality construction projects

• Responsibility for organising, coordinating and supervising construction execution from work preparation to building handover

• Participation in execution and detailed planning as well as ensuring the technically and aesthetically correct implementation of architectural concepts

• Preparation and coordination of tender documents and specifications for various construction and finishing trades

• Conducting tenders and offer comparisons including preparation of award decisions and participation in contractor negotiations

• Management of cost, schedule and quality control including budget monitoring, construction programmes and ongoing progress checks

• Coordination and leadership of executing companies and trades to ensure an efficient and high-quality construction process

• Organisation and leadership of construction and coordination meetings including minute-taking and follow-up of agreed measures

• Review of execution plans, workshop drawings and technical details for completeness, structural accuracy and feasibility

• Monitoring execution quality on site with special attention to demanding materials, surfaces and architectural details

• Checking contractor invoices, change orders and construction costs as well as managing relevant construction administration and project documentation

• Organisation and execution of construction acceptance, defect inspections and handovers including coordination of defect rectification and project completion

Qualifications:

• Completed training as a construction manager, architect FH/ETH or certified technician HF construction planning or a comparable construction-technical qualification

• Several years of professional experience in construction management, tendering and execution planning of demanding building construction projects in Switzerland

• Sound knowledge of Swiss SIA standards, especially SIA 118 and SIA 102, as well as relevant building regulations, procurement processes and construction-technical requirements

• Strong understanding of architecture, construction and materialisation as well as high standards for the design and craftsmanship quality of construction execution

• Confident handling of common construction administration, tendering and office programmes as well as experience with digital planning and coordination processes

• Independent, structured and solution-oriented working style with strong communication skills and enjoyment in collaborating with architects, specialist planners and contractors

• Very good German language skills in spoken and written form for independent construction management, negotiation, meeting leadership and technical project documentation
