For our client, an established Swiss industrial company with modern series production, we are looking for an experienced and technically strong personality as a Senior Tool Design Engineer in the Bern BE area.
In this role, you will take on a central position in the development, design, and optimisation of sophisticated tools, fixtures, and technical solutions for industrial manufacturing processes. You will work closely with production, toolmaking, quality assurance, and engineering to ensure that new and existing solutions are implemented precisely, economically, and reliably.
- Develop tool concepts for new products, process adjustments, and optimisations
- Design components considering material behaviour, tolerances, wear, and production reliability
- Create 3D models, part drawings, assemblies, bills of materials, and technical documentation
- Support trials, sampling, tool adjustments, and optimisations until stable series application
- Analyse manufacturing problems, dimensional deviations, tool wear, and process fluctuations
- Develop constructive improvements to increase service life, quality, and process stability
- Technical coordination with internal specialists as well as external suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Support standardisation, design guidelines, and continuous improvement projects
- Provide technical support within the team for complex design issues
- Further education as a technician HF in mechanical engineering, design technology, production technology, or comparable qualification is an advantage
- Several years of experience in tool design, ideally in the area of stamping, forming, progressive, or precision tools
- Very good understanding of tool construction, cutting clearances, guides, punches, dies, hold-downs, drawing radii, and wear parts
- Experience with thin-walled metal parts, precise series components, or demanding forming processes is an advantage
- Confident handling of 3D CAD systems and experience in creating manufacturing-compliant drawings
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, grinding, EDM, hardening, and surface treatments
- Experience working with toolmaking, production, quality assurance, and process development
- Ability to systematically analyse technical problems and develop practical solutions
- Precise, structured, and quality-conscious working style
- Good German language skills in spoken and written form, English skills are an advantage

Profile
- Completed training as a designer EFZ, polymechanic EFZ, toolmaker, or comparable technical basic training- Further education as a technician HF in mechanical engineering, design technology, production technology, or comparable qualification is an advantage
- Several years of experience in tool design, ideally in the area of stamping, forming, progressive, or precision tools
- Very good understanding of tool construction, cutting clearances, guides, punches, dies, hold-downs, drawing radii, and wear parts
- Experience with thin-walled metal parts, precise series components, or demanding forming processes is an advantage
