Network Operations Engineer (m/f/d)

Role:
In this role, you will design a high-performance telecommunications and network infrastructure by planning, operating, and continuously optimising physical and virtual server, storage, and network environments. You will take responsibility for operating virtualisation platforms, Linux servers, storage technologies, as well as central infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, or NTP, ensuring their security, availability, and maintainability. Additionally, you will analyse and resolve faults in complex network environments with firewalls, VPNs, and other connectivity solutions.
Responsibilities:
Operation and maintenance of SMPP, SS7, and SIGTRAN connections to customers, carriers, and telecommunications partners
L2 support, troubleshooting, and analysis of faults at the protocol level with Wireshark, SMPP, SCTP, and M3UA
Management of Cisco networks, Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, NAT, BGP, and internet connectivity
Operation of Proxmox, Linux systems, as well as Ceph and ZFS storage including monitoring, patching, and infrastructure services
Support with backup, restore, high availability, disaster recovery and the compensated on-call rotation
Qualifications:
Training in IT, system engineering or computer science, e.g. computer scientist EFZ platform development, ICT system and network technician or CCNA
Good knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLAN, DNS, and network segmentation.
Experience with Linux, structured troubleshooting and Wireshark
Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, BGP, Proxmox/VMware and ideally Ceph/ZFS
German and English fluent in writing and speaking
