Senior Network Engineer (m/f/d)

Global networks need more than stable connections – they need architecture with foresight.
Do you think in topologies, redundancies, security zones, and scalable network architectures? In this role, you will shape the technical foundation of an international communications landscape and combine strategic network design with sophisticated engineering.
Responsibilities:
Development and optimisation of highly available enterprise network architectures
Design of global LAN, WAN, and WLAN infrastructures
Creation of secure network zones, segmentation models, and routing architectures
Technical planning of network platforms throughout their entire lifecycle
Definition of standards for network design, security, and operations
Planning and support of international rollouts and infrastructure projects
Handling complex incidents at the 3rd-level support
Analysis of routing, switching, firewall, proxy, and wireless issues
Monitoring performance and availability of international WAN connections
Technical coordination with telecommunications and network providers
Building and further developing a modern network lab environment
Conducting tests, proofs of concept, and technology evaluations
Development of automation solutions for network processes using Python
Close collaboration with security, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams
Qualifications:
Higher education in computer science, network technology, or comparable technical qualification
Several years of experience in enterprise networking or network engineering
Solid knowledge in routing, switching, and network architecture
Very good practical experience with Cisco or comparable enterprise platforms
Experience with firewall, VPN, and security concepts
Confident handling of OSPF, VRF, VLAN, STP, QoS, and other network protocols
Knowledge of LTE and WAN technologies is an advantage
Experience with network automation and Python is an advantage
Analytical thinking and strong troubleshooting skills
Independent and responsible working style
Enjoyment of architecture, technology evaluation, and continuous development
Ideally a certification such as Cisco CCNP or comparable proof
