Role:

If complex systems need to function reliably, you are in your element. You identify technical weaknesses, improve operational processes, and develop software purposefully to ensure that business-critical applications remain stable even under demanding conditions. Here you combine engineering, automation, and systematic fault analysis into sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the technical reliability and continuous development of sophisticated applications

• Analysing system architecture and implementing improvements regarding availability, performance, and maintainability

• Developing new software functions and interfaces with Java

• Automating recurring operational tasks and standardising deployment and maintenance processes

• Advancing build and release automation with modern CI/CD tools

• Supporting containerised applications on platforms such as OpenShift or Kubernetes

• Systematic investigation of incidents, identification of root causes, and implementation of preventive measures

• Establishing structured fault analyses and sustainable improvement processes in collaboration with development and operations teams

• Planning technical changes as well as coordinating releases and maintenance work

• Improving monitoring, logging, and alerting for early detection of technical issues

• Supporting the technical evaluation of new requirements and developing viable implementation concepts

• Ensuring comprehensible operational procedures through up-to-date system documentation and technical runbooks

Qualifications:

• Solid education in computer science, application development, or software engineering, or equivalent practical experience

• Several years of professional experience in supporting, developing, and stabilising productive applications

• Good Java skills and understanding of the entire software lifecycle

• Experience with Git, automated build processes, and CI/CD pipelines

• Practical experience with GitLab and ideally OpenShift, Kubernetes, or comparable platform technologies

• Experience in application management and fault analysis of complex system landscapes

• Knowledge of REST interfaces, data flows, and integration of distributed applications

• Ideally experience with observability, centralised logging, and automated operational controls

• Understanding of DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and continuous process optimisation

• Ability to address causes rather than symptoms and to implement technical improvements sustainably
