Person Responsible for the Studbook – 80–100 %

Your Role

In this central role for Freiberger breeding, you are responsible for the SFA studbook and coordinate all related activities. You also coordinate and lead the studbook team and are the contact person for technical questions regarding breeding and studbook management.

Your Main Tasks

• Management, organisation and coordination of the studbook activities;
• Administration and evaluation of studbook data;
• Annual planning of breeding-relevant dates and deadlines;
• Coordination and leadership of the studbook staff as well as allocation and monitoring of their tasks;
• Participation in ongoing data recording activities;
• Monitoring the implementation of the breeding programme, studbook regulations, and legal requirements and directives of federal authorities in the field of breeding;
• Organisation and support of key breeding events, especially foal shows, field tests, the National Stallion Selection and the Station Test;
• Coordination of the activities of judges and show secretaries as well as involvement in their training and further education;
• Supervision of assessments, parentage controls, identification and registration procedures, as well as the issuance and management of horse passports;
• Management, control, analysis and evaluation of breeding and genealogical data;
• Maintenance and development of the EquiFM database and the digital tools of the studbook;
• Information and advice to breeders, breeding cooperatives, judges and other SFA partners;
• Collaboration with various departments, bodies, commissions, authorities, and national and international partners of the association.

Your Profile

• Higher or vocational education in agronomy, animal sciences, animal breeding, equine sciences or a related field, or equivalent training and professional experience;
• Good knowledge of genetics, selection, reproduction and animal breeding related to horse breeding, as well as a good understanding of how a breeding programme functions;
• Excellent IT skills, especially in handling and managing databases;
• Very good skills in analysing genealogical data;
• Native German or French speaker with very good oral and written knowledge of the other language; bilingualism is a great advantage;
• Strong interest in horse breeding and ideally knowledge of the Freiberger horse, its breeding and environment;
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently;
• Careful working style, high sense of responsibility and enjoyment in interacting with people;
• Availability, dynamism and flexibility, especially during key breeding events and activities.

Your Mission

In this central role for the breeding of the Franches-Montagnes horse, you take responsibility for the SFMF studbook and coordinate all related activities. You also coordinate and supervise the studbook team and are the reference person for technical questions related to breeding and studbook management.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Management, organisation and coordination of studbook activities;
• Management and enhancement of studbook data;
• Annual planning of breeding-related deadlines;
• Coordination and supervision of studbook staff, allocation and monitoring of their tasks;
• Assistance with routine data recording activities;
• Monitoring the application of the breeding programme, studbook regulations, and legal requirements and directives of federal authorities in the field of breeding;
• Organisation and follow-up of key breeding events, notably foal competitions, field tests, the National Stallion Selection and the Station Test;
• Coordination of judges' and competition secretaries' activities as well as participation in their training;
• Supervision of scoring, parentage checks, identification and registration procedures, and passport management;
• Management, control, analysis and enhancement of zootechnical and genealogical data;
• Maintenance and development of the EquiFM database and digital tools related to the studbook;
• Information and advice to breeders, breeding unions, judges and other SFMF partners;
• Collaboration with various sectors, bodies, commissions, authorities and national and international partners of the Federation.

Your Profile

• Higher or vocational training in agronomy, animal sciences, breeding, equine studies or a related field, or equivalent training and experience;
• Good knowledge of genetics, selection, reproduction and zootechnics applied to horse breeding, as well as a good understanding of how a breeding programme works;
• Excellent IT skills, especially in the use and management of databases;
• Very good skills in analysing genealogical data;
• Native French or German speaker with very good oral and written knowledge of the other language; bilingualism is a significant asset;
• Strong interest in horse breeding and ideally knowledge of the Franches-Montagnes horse and its environment;
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently;
• Rigour, high sense of responsibility and ease in interpersonal contacts;
• Availability, dynamism and flexibility, especially during key breeding events and activities.
