Cantonal terminology is very varied; it concerns not only law but also all other areas handled by the cantonal administration such as schools, roads, finance, public health, and agriculture. SCTerm works closely with the language services and more generally collaborates with all organisational units that have linguistic questions.
Your tasks
- Thematic and occasional work to feed the canton’s terminology database, LINGUA-PC
- Terminology monitoring and writing the "term of the month"
- Quality control of cantonal administrative language
- Management and development of language technology tools
- Participation in organising continuing education courses for linguistic specialists of the cantonal administration
Your profile
- Mother tongue: French; excellent knowledge of German; other languages: an asset
- University degree in terminology or university degree with mention/specialisation in terminology
- Solid experience in terminology, terminography and knowledge of common terminotical tools
- Public service orientation
- Attention to detail, methodical and rigorous mindset, intellectual curiosity, flexibility, team spirit

The Office of Bilingualism, Legislation and Resources (OBLR) is the competence centre for language services such as translation and terminology. It is responsible for legislative monitoring and bilingualism-related issues. Furthermore, it supports the Executive Council Delegation for Jura affairs. It also manages the cantonal central purchasing of supplies and printed matter and is responsible for task and resource planning within the State Chancellery as well as the operation of the Government House. The State Chancellery is a versatile service provider at the interface between politics, administration and the public. As the Executive Council’s staff, it ensures liaison with the Grand Council. In this capacity, it plans, supports and coordinates the activities of these authorities and provides numerous services to the administration and the population.
