Tasks
Collaboration in the court chancellery: The Court of Appeal chancellery supports the judges in preparing court proceedings. It is responsible for court correspondence and the drafting of judgments.
Case management: This includes:
Managing cases (from case intake to case closure using the specialised application Juris, including maintaining case accounting) as well as handling general correspondence and enquiries.
Deputising for the head of chancellery: You support the head of chancellery particularly in specialist areas such as being the first point of contact for the Juris application and represent them during absences.
Profile
Experience: You have several years of professional experience (ideally in the legal field), are proficient in using M365. An affinity for IT applications with an interest in digital transformation is essential. Leadership experience is an advantage.
Personality: As a discreet, service-oriented individual, you enjoy working in a team. You act in a structured manner with a high level of quality and responsibility. You keep an overview in hectic situations and take responsibility.
Education: For this demanding role, a completed commercial or equivalent education is essential, as well as a CAS further education in the legal field (if not already obtained, this can be completed after employment).
Language: Fluent German skills in spoken and written form are a prerequisite. Foreign language skills are an advantage.
Insight into our work
The Court of Appeal Basel-Stadt is the highest cantonal court instance in civil and criminal matters. As a second instance, it reviews decisions of the civil court, criminal court, and juvenile court when contested by the parties involved. The Court of Appeal is also the cantonal administrative and constitutional court and deals in this capacity with orders issued by the Basel-Stadt administration that are contested. Responsible for various subject areas, it makes a significant contribution to legal certainty in the canton.
