Role:

You will take on a versatile infrastructure role, combining classic data centre tasks with modern virtualisation, Linux, storage, and network technologies. You ensure stable system operation, coordinate technical work with external partners, and continuously develop the infrastructure through automation and clean processes.

Responsibilities:

• You operate and maintain physical server and storage systems at various colocation sites.

• You coordinate hardware installations, replacements, upgrades, cabling, as well as rack and power connections.

• You monitor hardware condition, performance, capacities, and relevant environmental conditions.

• You operate Proxmox VE clusters, virtual machines, and Linux operating systems.

• You administer and optimise Ceph and ZFS storage environments.

• You provision, patch, and monitor Linux servers and other infrastructure components.

• You reliably provide central services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and internal certificate services.

• You implement backup and restore procedures and regularly test disaster recovery scenarios.

• You keep infrastructure inventories, lifecycle information, warranties, and technical documentation up to date.

• You support the automation of recurring tasks and configuration management.

• You coordinate technical work with colocation providers, manufacturers, and external service providers.

• You support Cisco networks, Palo Alto firewalls, and VPNs and analyse connectivity issues.

• You administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and Exchange Online.

• You also support end devices, WLAN, telephony, and meeting room systems as needed.

• You participate in incident and change management and regularly take part in on-call duties.

Qualifications:

• You have practical experience in Linux system administration and operating server infrastructures.

• You are familiar with virtualisation technologies such as Proxmox, VMware, or comparable platforms.

• You have knowledge of storage technologies and ideally experience with Ceph or ZFS.

• You are familiar with server hardware, operating system installation, patching, and monitoring.

• You understand concepts around backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery.

• You have good knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, and other network services.

• Ideally, you have experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or a comparable scripting language.

• You ideally have practical experience with Cisco networks, Palo Alto firewalls, or VPN technologies.

• Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, or Active Directory is an advantage.

• You have a qualification as an IT specialist EFZ, ICT specialist, ICT system and network technician, or a comparable technical qualification.

• You work solution-oriented, take responsibility, and communicate confidently with internal and external contacts.

• You have fluent German skills; English skills are an advantage.
