Insight into our work
The Youth, Family and Sport division of the Department of Education Basel-Stadt covers a wide range of topics around childcare, child and youth welfare, early intervention and sport. It informs and supports children, young people and those involved in upbringing and advocates for high-quality public and private services. Promoting mass sport and physical activity, both in clubs and privately, is also a central task. These activities directly benefit many people in Basel: from children to parents to sports enthusiasts.
The Centre for Early Intervention (ZFF) supports the social, emotional, cognitive and language development of children residing in the canton of Basel-Stadt from birth until kindergarten entry. The Special Needs Early Childhood Education department at the ZFF supports, promotes and accompanies children with developmental difficulties and their families in close cooperation with other departments.
