For one of our clients based in Geneva, we are looking for an experienced Software Quality Manager.
Context
The assignment consists of fulfilling the role of Software Quality Manager on software development and maintenance projects for the various departments of the business solutions division. The Software Quality Manager is responsible for implementing the quality and methodological framework applicable to the products under their charge.
Depending on the development methods (Scrum, Kanban or V-model), you will also take on the role of Scrum Master, Kanban Master or software quality engineer, ensuring the application of these methods. Your responsibility includes drafting software quality plans (SQPs) in collaboration with project managers and ensuring their implementation, both in terms of quality and methodology.
You act both as a facilitator for the software development and maintenance teams, as well as a supporter, coordinator and guarantor of the project framework defined in the SQPs.
Your tasks
Session facilitation: present the SQPs to project teams and train those without a software quality background
Implementation of SQPs: deploy the SQPs and facilitate their application in all aspects; support teams in using quality and methodology activity tools, in compliance with standard configurations (e.g. Jira)
Updating SQPs: keep the SQPs up to date throughout the project lifecycle and maintenance, in collaboration with the project manager and service manager, especially when there is a change in development method, scope evolution or transition from development to maintenance
Method implementation: organise and lead sessions specific to development methods (e.g. Scrum ceremonies) and produce expected deliverables (e.g. sprint review reports); verify completeness and quality of inputs to the development and maintenance process (e.g. test concepts) and ensure the quality of outputs (e.g. quality of user stories written); produce method-specific metrics and indicators (e.g. product burn-up chart in Scrum); participate in project governance by providing a quality perspective
Inspection and advice: conduct quality inspections on the application of SQPs to identify non-conformities and distinguish institutionalised provisions from those being acquired; use results to identify corrective or preventive actions for continuous improvement of standards and models; advise teams on operational implementation of SQPs
Education
University of Applied Sciences degree, computer science degree, EPF engineering diploma or federal diploma
Essential skills
5 years or more experience in the role
Knowledge of various development methods (Scrum, Kanban, V-model)
Knowledge of software quality (assurance and quality control)
Knowledge of software engineering (specification, design, development, testing, etc.)
Desirable skills
3 years or more experience in the role
Experience deploying software quality plans (SQPs) or quality assurance plans on development and maintenance projects
Conducting quality inspections or audits: reporting findings and following up on corrective actions
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise interventions
An advantage
Method certifications: Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Kanban Management Professional (KMP)
Knowledge of AI-assisted software development to ensure AI compliance with SQPs: integrating SQP requirements into AI tool instructions and configurations used by teams, and ensuring AI outputs comply with SQPs
Personal qualities
Excellent communication skills
Persuasiveness to encourage change
Rigour in supporting the implementation of SQPs
Autonomy in monitoring and reporting inspection results and in activities related to implementing various methods
