Role:

You don’t just want to process tickets but truly understand and shape networks? As a Network Engineer: Troubleshooting & Security, you operate between architecture, project work, and in-depth fault analysis. The focus is on carrier-grade infrastructures with BGP, MPLS, and modern security concepts. Your technical judgement counts here, and your solutions go directly into operation with customers. At the same time, you stay close to the hardware and work hands-on in the data centre.

Responsibilities:

• You plan complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 architectures and build dynamic routing designs with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and other protocols

• In case of persistent faults, you take over 3rd-level support and get to the root cause with packet captures and routing analyses

• You develop security concepts with firewalls, ACLs, NAT, and VPN for customer environments and your own infrastructure and accompany the implementation in projects

• Furthermore, you operate Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) services in the provider environment and technically advance the core and access network

• You carefully plan firmware upgrades, changes, and migrations and integrate new sites, customers, and systems cleanly into the existing architecture

• Additionally, you conduct audits and assessments, evaluate traffic flows and capacities, and assist with data centre projects from cabling to DC interconnect

Qualifications:

• You have at least 3 years of experience in network and security engineering, preferably in the carrier or service provider environment

• Routing tables, peering concepts, and path selection in BGP are part of your daily routine, and you have practical experience with L2 and L3 MPLS

• You are confident with IPv4 and IPv6, TCP/IP, as well as topics such as network segmentation, trunking, link aggregation, VLAN, and STP/RSTP

• Furthermore, you have implemented firewall rulesets, NAT, as well as remote access and site-to-site VPNs and know concepts for failover and high availability

• When troubleshooting, you proceed in a structured manner, use Wireshark, logs, and traffic data, and have already networked several sites or data centres

• Ideally, you have worked with Fortinet, Cisco, Ruckus, Brocade, or Extreme, communicate confidently in German within the team, and feel comfortable in English technical discussions
