What to expect
In this role, you are part of the Geoanalysis & Natural Risks department, the competence centre of Mobiliar for geoanalysis, natural hazards, climate change and natural hazard prevention. The department is responsible for Mobiliar’s commitments to natural hazard research and prevention and operates the internal geographic information system MobiGIS, supporting the insurance business with natural hazard-related analyses. This way, we make a central contribution to the proactive and expertly founded handling of natural risks at Mobiliar.
Your impact with us
As a Data and AI Specialist in Geoanalysis & Natural Risks, you help to make scientific data, insights and models from meteorology, hydrology and natural hazards specifically usable for Mobiliar. You work technically and professionally in research collaboration with the University of Bern and thus contribute to positioning Mobiliar as a leading property insurer in the field of natural risks.
In addition, you develop and maintain Python-based analyses of geo-, meteo- and insurance-technical data. Furthermore, you work conceptually and technically on the further development of our geographic information system as well as our geo- and meteo-data management. You bring in your expertise to expand our data and analysis platforms in a future-oriented manner.
Your profile
- Completed university degree in climate sciences, geography, environmental natural sciences, geomatics or similar
- Professional experience related to meteorology or natural hazards in the private sector, administration or science
- Advanced knowledge in quantitative methods, statistics and geodata analysis as well as experience in the use of machine learning approaches and AI tools
- Good programming skills in Python
- Experience handling large geo- and meteo-datasets
- Experience with modern GIS technologies and platforms as well as interest in current developments in the field of GeoAI
- Knowledge of the insurance industry or interest in working on insurance-specific issues
- Independent, structured working style as well as enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Team spirit, strong communication skills and the ability to prepare and present complex content appropriately for the audience, also to larger groups
- Good German and English skills both spoken and written, French an advantage
