For our ROCKEN partner, a renowned NGO with national and international reach and over 1,500 employees at 24 locations in Switzerland and worldwide, we are seeking an experienced specialist in accounting based in Zurich. You will be responsible in daily operations for managing the general ledger according to Swiss GAAP FER and OR and will also contribute to development and digitalisation projects within financial accounting. You can expect a meaningful role with a high degree of independence and great flexibility regarding presence times and workplace.
Responsibilities:
You manage the general ledger according to Swiss GAAP FER and OR, including processing and posting accruals, valuation issues, provisions, and other complex matters
You ensure the correct and complete representation of all subsidiary ledgers (accounts payable, donation accounting, asset accounting, etc.) and manage the asset accounting
You proactively contribute to development and digitalisation projects within financial accounting
You are responsible for preparing periodic VAT returns in a demanding international environment (flat-rate tax method) as well as assessing and declaring withholding tax and deduction tax
You act as a subject matter expert in the consolidation, accounts payable, and revenue recognition processes, working closely with colleagues domestically and abroad
You support the team in handling legacies, external audits, and the internal control system
Qualifications:
You have a commercial basic education as well as a completed or ongoing professional certificate in finance and accounting or a comparable additional qualification, along with several years of professional experience in a similar role
You have fluent German and English skills; French skills are an advantage
In-depth VAT knowledge, experience with Business Central, and knowledge of accounting treatment of foreign currency issues are advantageous
You are a committed, dynamic, and structured personality with a flair for numbers
You show an affinity for process automation and digital tools
