Role:

You take responsibility where security must interplay across network, endpoint, identity, and cloud. As a Senior Defensive Security Engineer, you design multi-layered security architectures for managed security services and complex customer environments. Modern zero-trust approaches and strong detection form your foundation. When a critical incident escalates, you maintain technical leadership. At the same time, you shape standards that have an impact far beyond individual projects.

Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the design and further development of EDR, NDR, and Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solutions and integrate these cleanly into existing architectures

• In critical security incidents, you lead analysis, containment, and remediation across all levels and ensure thorough follow-up

• You build SIEM environments, connect new log sources, and refine alerting and monitoring concepts against complex attack patterns

• Furthermore, you optimise enterprise and cloud firewall architectures as well as web application firewalls and define security baselines for systems and components

• With Python and Bash, you automate security operations and analysis processes, using APIs purposefully

• You also conduct architecture reviews and proofs of concept, support demanding pre-sales situations, and continuously develop best practices

Qualifications:

• Several years of solid practical experience in security engineering, security architecture, or security operations form your foundation

• You are familiar with firewalls, WAF, EDR, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) from hands-on experience and understand their interplay

• Additionally, you have solid knowledge in vulnerability management, hardening, as well as Windows and Linux security including log analysis

• You understand protocols such as TLS, TCP/IP, and DNS in detail and recognise their security-relevant characteristics

• You are confident in identity security, MFA, and least privilege, and frameworks like NIST, CIS Benchmarks, or MITRE ATT&CK are ideally familiar to you

• Moreover, you impress with analytical depth, work in a structured and independent manner, and negotiate technical topics fluently in German and confidently in English
