The Green Spaces Service (SEVE), which has around 250 employees, manages and develops the green heritage of the City of Geneva sustainably and in the public interest. To complete its team, SEVE is looking for its future
Deputy Director, Head of the Green Spaces Maintenance Unit at 80-100%
Your mission and responsibilities
- Lead and organise the Green Spaces Maintenance Unit and oversee all its strategic, operational, administrative, legal and financial activities.
- Supervise the unit's staff (around 170) distributed across various sectors, set objectives, support and accompany them in their mission.
- Develop the directives and processes necessary for proper management and enabling the implementation of management plans and the various strategies of the City of Geneva (greening, climate, biodiversity).
- Optimise the means and resources allocated (human, technical and financial, etc.).
- Ensure consistency of operational practices between sectors, work planning and the appropriate matching of resources to the unit's needs.
- Define a sustainable management policy for green spaces (enhancement of green spaces in favour of the environment, climate change and biodiversity development).
- Ensure internal communication within the unit.
Your profile
- Hold a university degree in nature management or agronomy or an equivalent qualification.
- Have at least 5 years of proven experience, including managing large operational teams and budget management.
- Have expertise in green spaces, their maintenance and operation.
- Be capable of having a genuine strategic and organisational vision and taking innovative initiatives.
- Demonstrate leadership and excellent interpersonal skills, a strong sense of human contact and ease in communication.
- Possess organisational and prioritisation skills as well as analytical and synthesis abilities.
- Master the regulations in force at municipal, cantonal and federal levels related to green space management.
