Role:
This position offers the opportunity to operate and further develop modern Linux and computing infrastructures in a scientific environment. The focus is on stable platforms, automation and supporting demanding research applications.
Responsibilities:
Operation and further development of Linux-based cluster and research infrastructures
Administration and optimisation of computing platforms for scientific applications
Support of user groups and technical partners
Automation of operational processes using modern DevOps methods
Analysis and resolution of complex system issues
Participation in architecture and development projects in the HPC/HTC environment
Qualifications:
Several years of experience in Linux system administration
Knowledge of automation with Ansible, Puppet, Bash or Python
Experience with Git, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code concepts
Practical experience in monitoring, troubleshooting and operating complex systems
Knowledge of container technologies, batch systems or distributed computing environments is an advantage
Analytical working style, team spirit and enthusiasm for technical challenges
Experience with scientific IT infrastructures or WLCG environments is a plus
Good German / English
