The Law Library of the University of Basel is the largest specialised library of the university and belongs to the traditional Law Faculty, which can look back on over 565 years of history. With around 135,000 books, over 300 study places and a dedicated team of 9 staff members, it is a central place for teaching, research and study. It supports students, researchers and staff with a modern, service-oriented offer and is closely networked with the University Library Basel.

Library Operations Manager / Deputy Library Director (80%)
In this versatile role, you will take responsibility for the operational library management and actively contribute to the further development of our services and processes. At the same time, you represent the library management and help shape the future of a modern law faculty library.

Library Operations Manager / Deputy Library Director (80%)
In this versatile role, you will take responsibility for the operational library management and actively contribute to the further development of our services and processes. At the same time, you represent the library management and help shape the future of a modern law faculty library.
Your tasks
- Ensuring, further developing and optimising the daily library operations.
- Professional guidance and support of the library team in operational activities.
- Organisation and coordination of the information desk operations as well as scheduling of student employees.
- Responsibility for the acquisition of monographs, invoice processing and management of serials in the Alma library system.
- Advising and supporting our users with research and information queries.
- Planning and conducting training sessions, library introductions and tours.
- Participation in projects and taking on project management tasks as agreed.
- Deputising for the library management in organisational and administrative matters.
- Maintaining cooperation with the University Library Basel, external partners and suppliers.
Your profile
- Completed training as an I+D specialist or I+D professional.
- Several years of professional experience in the library sector of a university.
- Sound knowledge of Alma, Primo VE as well as the standards RDA and GND.
- Experience in organising and coordinating workflows in library operations.
- Enjoy working with diverse stakeholders.
- High service orientation and strong communication skills.
- Independent, structured and reliable working style.
- Very good German skills as well as good French and English skills.
- Experience in leading small teams or coordinating staff is an advantage.
