Role:

Stable networks do not arise by chance but through precise engineering. As a Network & Security Engineer, you design core and access infrastructures in a demanding service provider environment and develop them technically. You confidently navigate between routing, switching, and network security. Complex faults challenge you, and you provide well-founded solutions for internal systems as well as for customer projects.

Responsibilities:

• You operate and optimise the core and access networks and plan complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 solutions

• You implement dynamic routing architectures with BGP as well as Layer 2 and Layer 3 services based on MPLS

• You design firewall, ACL, NAT, and VPN solutions and implement them in customer projects

• In 3rd-level support, you analyse complex faults using packet captures and conduct root cause analyses

• Furthermore, you are responsible for migrations, firmware upgrades, lifecycle measures, audits, and technical assessments

• You also work hands-on in data centre projects and optimise capacities, traffic flows, and performance

Qualifications:

• You have at least 3 years of experience in network and security engineering, ideally in a service provider or carrier environment

• You are proficient in TCP/IP, IPv6, and IPv4, as well as VLAN, STP/RSTP, trunking, link aggregation, and network segmentation

• You have practical experience with BGP including peering concepts, route selection, and routing tables, as well as MPLS services

• You are familiar with firewalls, NAT, ACLs, remote access, and site-to-site VPNs, as well as redundancy and failover concepts

• Additionally, you approach troubleshooting with Wireshark, logs, and traffic analyses in a structured manner and are knowledgeable in data centre networking

• Ideally, you also have solid knowledge of Fortinet, Cisco, or other common network manufacturers
