About the job
Attached to the Department of Planning, Construction, and Mobility (DACM), the Urban Planning Service (URB) plans the regeneration of the municipal territory according to the objectives of ecological and social transition, at various scales and through several tools, from the processing of building permit notices to the Municipal Master Plan. It also collaborates on inter-municipal and regional planning and organises dialogue and debate around urban issues. Your mission and responsibilities
As a member of the management team, you fully participate in the service's leadership. As such, your mission will be to:
- Contribute to defining and implementing the technical and managerial orientations of the service, as well as its management and organisation, to ensure the implementation of public policies in compliance with legal provisions and to promote an efficient and quality public service.
- Ensure, in close coordination with the management members, the coherence of activities developed within a service of about twenty people.
- Lead general, localised, and thematic studies in territorial planning.
- Coordinate various thematic planning and ensure regular monitoring of territorial developments through updating and analysing indicators.
- Supervise opinions on building permit requests.
- Manage a team of collaborators.
- Represent the urban planning service with other municipal departments, State services, and partner institutions of the City of Geneva.
- Assist or even replace the head of service by taking delegated responsibility for specific files.
Your profile
- Hold a Master’s degree in architecture or geography, specialising in urban planning and territorial development.
- Have more than five years of experience in leading, supervising, and motivating teams.
- Manage complex projects with rigour, method, and excellent organisational skills.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams within the municipal administration.
- Conduct negotiation sessions and meetings bringing together stakeholders from various backgrounds on diverse topics.
- Develop trusting relationships through excellent interpersonal skills, strong listening ability, and flexibility.
- Mobilise individual and collective skills to successfully carry out several projects simultaneously.
- Master geographic information systems (GIS) and their tools, notably ArcGIS.
- Communicate perfectly in French, both orally and in writing.
- Have good knowledge of German, which is an asset.
