Role:
On behalf of the client, we are looking for an experienced specialist as Senior Civil Engineer for Railway Infrastructure to realise complex and interdisciplinary infrastructure projects in the Swiss railway environment. You will take on the client-side senior civil engineering management of projects with an investment volume of around CHF 20 to 50 million and be responsible in particular for construction phase planning, construction logistics, procurement, contract management and execution supervision. You will coordinate internal specialist departments, planning offices and executing companies and ensure timely, quality and safety-compliant realisation under ongoing railway operations. The role combines demanding construction management with railway infrastructure, contract and claims management as well as interdisciplinary project coordination.
Responsibilities:
Assuming the senior civil engineering management for complex railway infrastructure projects with a construction volume of around CHF 20 to 50 million.
Client-side control and supervision of the realisation and commissioning phases
Development and coordination of construction phase, construction process and construction logistics concepts together with the involved specialist departments
Coordination of interfaces between track construction, civil engineering, structures, overhead lines, signalling systems and other railway technology trades
Procurement and awarding of external construction and contractor services including participation in tenders and submissions
Responsibility for work contracts, contract monitoring and claims management
Review and negotiation of claims, additional cost demands and changes in services
Monitoring of costs, deadlines, quality and construction progress and initiation of appropriate measures in case of deviations
Ensuring a contract-, project- and standard-compliant construction execution
Coordination of internal specialist departments, planning offices, construction management, companies and other project participants
Ensuring compliance with relevant occupational safety and railway operation regulations during construction work in the track and operational environment
Support for acceptances, commissioning, defect rectification and project documentation
Qualifications:
Degree as civil engineer FH/ETH, technician HF or comparable higher construction technical qualification
Several years of experience in senior civil engineering management, construction management or project management of demanding infrastructure projects
Experience with railway infrastructure and construction under ongoing railway operations is an advantage
Sound knowledge in construction phase planning, construction logistics, tendering and awarding
Experience in work contract, claims, cost and schedule management
Knowledge of relevant SIA standards as well as Swiss construction and safety regulations
Very good German language skills for contract negotiations, project coordination and technical documentation
