Role:
On behalf of the client, we are looking for an experienced leader as Head of Rail Civil Engineering & Road Construction for the operational, technical and strategic management of a significant business unit in the Swiss infrastructure market. You will bear personnel and result responsibility for several well-established engineering and project teams with around 75 employees and will specifically develop the service portfolio in rail and road construction. In addition to business development, acquisition and customer management, you will take an active role in strategically relevant infrastructure projects and represent the department vis-à-vis clients, partners and expert committees. The role combines corporate management, technical expertise and market development with international collaboration and the further development of an additional European location.
Responsibilities:
Operational, technical and strategic overall management of the Rail Civil Engineering & Road Construction division including result and budget responsibility
Personnel management of around 75 employees across several departments and project teams as well as leadership and development of responsible team and department heads
Definition and implementation of the division strategy, market positioning and business development in rail and road infrastructure construction
Responsibility for acquisition, bidding strategy and contract acquisition for demanding public and private infrastructure projects
Maintenance and strategic expansion of relationships with rail companies, federal government, cantons, public clients and other infrastructure operators
Management of the project portfolio, resource planning and capacity utilisation as well as monitoring of profitability, quality and project risks
Overall support and occasional project management of complex rail, civil engineering and road infrastructure projects
Technical development of the division in topics such as rail civil engineering, national roads, BIM, digitalisation and sustainable infrastructure planning
Responsibility for economic project control focusing on fees, project budgets, costs, deadlines, quality and risk management
Further development and technical integration of an international engineering location as well as coordination of cross-border planning services
Establishment and further development of leadership, project and quality standards within the area of responsibility
Representation of the company in relevant professional associations, committees and industry networks as well as monitoring regulatory and technological developments
Qualifications:
Completed studies as Civil Engineer MSc FH/ETH or comparable university degree
Many years of professional and project management experience in rail construction, rail civil engineering and/or national road construction in the Swiss infrastructure market
Several years of leadership and result responsibility for larger engineering organisations, departments or business units
Proven experience in business development, acquisition, bid management and strategic customer development
Sound knowledge of Swiss infrastructure planning, SIA phases, procurement procedures and relevant technical regulations
Established professional network in the Swiss rail and/or road infrastructure market
Fluent German and good English skills spoken and written
