Role:

You think in packets, paths, and protocols and want to truly understand networks. This is exactly where this position comes in. As a Routing & Switching Engineer, you take technical responsibility for a carrier-grade infrastructure with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Multiprotocol Label Switching at the core. Customer projects, data centre deployments, and challenging 3rd-level cases make your daily work varied. With your expertise, you shape how secure and performant the network runs tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

• You develop security concepts with firewalls, ACLs, NAT, and VPN for customer environments and your own infrastructure

• In case of persistent faults, you delve deep in 3rd-level support and find the cause through packet capture and routing analysis

• You build routing architectures and operate Layer-2 and Layer-3 services based on MPLS

• Additionally, you integrate new customers, systems, and locations into existing architectures

• Furthermore, you plan changes, migrations, and upgrades for routers, switches, and firewalls

• You also get hands-on with data centre projects, from cabling to linking multiple sites, and conduct audits and capacity analyses

Qualifications:

• You bring a solid foundation of at least 3 years in network and security engineering, preferably from a carrier or provider environment

• You are confident with IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, and complex Layer-2/Layer-3 designs with VLAN, trunking, STP/RSTP, and link aggregation

• Peering, route selection, and routing tables in the BGP environment are familiar to you, as are label-switching services from practical experience

• You have implemented VPN solutions for site-to-site and remote access and know concepts for high availability, failover, and redundancy

• You methodically detect faults using Wireshark, logs, and traffic analyses, and data centre networking is not new to you

• You are also familiar with hardware from Cisco, Fortinet, or comparable manufacturers and communicate fluently in German as well as confidently in English in professional contexts
