Job Description
By the size of its collections, the Cantonal and University Library - Lausanne (BCUL) is one of the largest libraries in Switzerland. A public institution with a heritage, cultural and academic vocation, the Cantonal and University Library - Lausanne (BCUL) depends on the Directorate General of Culture (DGC).
Within the UNIL university campus, the Unithèque site of the Cantonal and University Library - Lausanne (BCUL) is an academic library specialised in the humanities, serving the university community and a wider public seeking specialised documentation. Currently undergoing an expansion project, the extended Unithèque will welcome its full capacity from 2027, both for students and collections.
In a context of high demand and facing the evolution of technical and library science tools and challenges, you bring your expertise to the document circuit section (CIRDOC) of the Unithèque site and play a role as a technical referent within the Renouvaud network Coordination.
At the same time, you are a key player in supporting users by providing quality reception, information and training, while actively contributing to the development of innovative projects and ensuring constant monitoring to maintain cutting-edge expertise.
Responsibilities
Assume the role of technical expert in metadata and actively collaborate with the Renouvaud network Coordination
Ensure the acquisition and cataloguing circuit of books
Manage the open-access monograph collections
Welcome, inform and train users of the university site. Train and keep skills up to date through monitoring and continuing education
Manage or actively participate in development projects

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree specialising in information science or equivalent library training
Minimum 5 years' experience in a documentary information service
- Very good knowledge of the ALMA ILS, MARC21 format, RDA rules and other cataloguing standards
- Good ability to communicate and synthesise information
- Very good command of basic office tools and new information technologies (professional web searches, information management)
- Good knowledge of artificial intelligence tools and natural language processing applied to cataloguing
- Knowledge of a programming language, German at B1 level and English at B2 level
