About the job
Our client is an established, personally shaped care institution in Basel. It offers older people a home when life becomes more vulnerable, everyday life tighter, orientation more fragile, and human attention more important than any routine.
For a psychogeriatric residential area we are looking from 1 August 2026 or by arrangement for a leader who is professionally competent, remains humanly alert and knows that good care does not begin with medication administration and does not end with the duty roster.
This is about people who do not just want to be cared for, but understood. About residents who sometimes tell more about their lives when they are silent than when they speak. About relatives who stand between concern, exhaustion and guilt. About employees who give a lot every day and therefore need a leadership that provides orientation, support and remains calm even when the day does not go according to the textbook.
This position is not an ordinary leadership role that one simply goes through the motions. It is a task with weight and significance. Therefore, on behalf of our client, we are looking for a
Nurse for Team Leadership Psychogeriatrics 80-100% - When the Psyche Stumbles, Everyday Life Must Not Fall...
Your task:
You take over the leadership of a psychogeriatric residential area with around 28 residents and a team of about 17 employees. You do not lead from the sidelines, but right in the middle of everyday life. You provide structure without losing sight of the person. You ensure that care is carried out professionally sound, humanly attentive and organisationally reliable.
- You lead the psychogeriatric residential area with clarity, calm and human presence
- You support, accompany and develop your team in everyday life
- You ensure that residents are not only cared for but seen, taken seriously and accompanied with dignity
- You organise duty processes, implement professional standards and keep an overview even in demanding situations
- You are the contact person for relatives, doctors and internal specialist departments
- You recognise where processes can be improved and contribute your own ideas
- You create a culture in which employees like to work, take responsibility and stand up for each other
Why this work is important:
Psychogeriatric care is one of the most demanding areas of long-term care. It requires expertise, nerves, empathy, humour, maturity and the ability not to reduce people to their behaviour. Here you meet people whose world is sometimes no longer the same as ours. People who search, ask, repeat, reject, forget, cry, laugh or suddenly are somewhere else. Those who work here need more than routine. Those who lead here need inner stability.
Your work has a direct impact. If you lead well, your team works more calmly. If your team works more calmly, residents feel safer. If residents feel safer, trust is created. And trust in this area is not a nice word from a mission statement, but daily lived care quality. This task is important because dignity is not automatically preserved. It must be protected in everyday life. Again and again. Especially when people can no longer explain, defend or classify themselves.
Your profile:
- You have training as a certified nurse HF/FH or an equivalent qualification
- Ideally, you bring experience in psychogeriatrics. Further training in leadership, for example leadership, ward management or a comparable qualification, is an advantage.
- More important than a flawless CV is your attitude. You should like people. Not only the easy, grateful and pleasant ones. But also those who challenge, irritate, test boundaries or withdraw. You should be able to lead without having to raise your voice. You should be able to decide without appearing harsh. You should allow closeness without losing professional distance.
We are looking for a personality who:
- works professionally confidently and responsibly;
- brings experience or genuine interest in psychogeriatrics;
- can lead, strengthen and reliably accompany employees;
- remains resilient without becoming numb;
- meets relatives respectfully, clearly and patiently;
- thinks solution-oriented and pitches in in everyday life;
- has humour but takes the task seriously;
- radiates a natural authority that does not rely on volume.
- You do not have to be perfect. But genuine. Reliable. Attentive. And ready to take responsibility not only when everything runs smoothly.
What our client offers
- a responsible leadership role with real influence on everyday care;
- a committed team that wants to be led, supported and developed;
- a working environment where humanity is not only claimed but needed;
- interdisciplinary collaboration with short distances;
- contemporary employment conditions;
- attractive additional benefits such as job ticket, Reka holiday money and a flexible holiday model;
- a task where you know in the evening what you have worked for.
Of course, there are also demanding days. Anything else would be dishonest. But in this work there are also those rare moments when you feel: This is exactly why I became a nurse. This is exactly why leadership is worthwhile.
Why you should apply:
Perhaps you are not just looking for a new job. Perhaps you are looking for a task that again has more to do with why you originally went into nursing. Not just processes. Not just duty rosters. Not just emails, reports and meetings. But people. A team. Responsibility. Impact. In this residential area, someone is needed who organises everyday life without making it cold. Someone who takes employees seriously and at the same time trusts them. Someone who does not see relatives as a disruptive factor but as part of a story. Someone who understands that psychogeriatrics is not just a specialist area but a place where attitude is shown.
Interested? Then I look forward to your application. Questions? Just call me.
