Lead PLC Engineer R&D
Would you like to actively shape the automation of future machines and systems and set technological standards? Our Chocolate & Flavour Creation business unit develops innovative machines, systems and automation solutions for processing cocoa, chocolate, coffee and nuts. As Technical Lead Automation Engineer PLC in our R&D team, you take technical responsibility for demanding automation developments and accompany new technologies from the initial idea through validation to market launch.
This is where you will excel
- You take technical responsibility for demanding automation developments and accompany new machines and systems from the initial idea to successful market launch
- You design future-proof, modular PLC software architectures and develop reusable solutions with Siemens and Rockwell for our next machine generation
- You implement and document new functions for control, visualisation, motion control and drive technology and integrate the results of risk analyses into safety software according to DIN EN ISO 13849
- You plan and carry out verification and validation of new developments – with unit tests and digital twins as well as on prototypes, test systems and selected customer deployments
- You analyse technological requirements and test results, derive innovative solutions and continuous improvements, and work closely with design, product management, project management and other R&D departments
These are the required skills
- Completed studies in automation, electrical engineering, systems engineering, mechatronics or software engineering, or a comparable technical education with appropriate further training
- Extensive experience in developing complex PLC software for machines or systems and confident handling of Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell Automation Studio
- Experience in designing modular and reusable software architectures as well as solid knowledge in safety PLC programming, visualisation, motion control, drive and control technology
- Strong understanding of modern development and testing methods as well as familiarity with industrial communication solutions and tools such as Git and Azure DevOps; knowledge of unit tests, digital twins, structured text or other programming languages is an advantage
- Analytical and creative working style, initiative and technical leadership skills as well as very good German and English skills and willingness to travel internationally about 10%
