Role:

Are you looking for a position where your architectural decisions form the backbone of entire networks? Here, as a Senior Firewall & VPN Engineer, you shape the technical future of service provider, data centre, and customer environments. The focus is on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), complex BGP designs, and well-thought-out firewall architectures. When there is a crisis, you are the technical authority in the team and find the cause. At the same time, you drive innovation forward and set standards for routing, switching, and security.

Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the architecture of the core, access, and security infrastructure and set binding technical standards.

• You specifically develop complex Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) environments, peering concepts, and MPLS services on Layer 2 and 3.

• You design security architectures with zones, segmentation, and NAT and build fail-safe VPN connections between sites.

• Furthermore, you analyse traffic flows, latencies, and capacities and derive concrete optimisations from them.

• Additionally, you lead technically during critical incidents in 3rd-level support, including thorough root cause analysis.

• You also manage network migrations and data centre connections and test new technologies in proofs of concept.

Qualifications:

• You bring at least 5 years of practical experience in network and security engineering, preferably from a carrier environment.

• You master routing policies, route selection, and route filtering and are familiar with service provider architectures with MPLS firsthand.

• Switching topics such as link aggregation, VLAN, trunking, and STP/RSTP as well as TCP/IP with IPv6 and IPv4 are routine for you.

• Moreover, you have solid experience with carrier and enterprise firewalls, ACLs, as well as remote access and site-to-site VPN.

• You methodically detect faults, whether with Wireshark, routing tables, logs, or flow data.

• Additionally, you have worked with solutions from Brocade, Cisco, Ruckus, Extreme, and/or Fortinet and recognise dependencies across all network layers.
