Senior Network Security Engineer (m/f/d)
Role:
For a technically demanding position in the field of cyber security, an experienced professional is sought who not only designs security platforms but also actively operates and further develops them. The focus is on highly available firewall and proxy infrastructures as well as their continuous optimisation.
The role offers considerable technical scope for design in an enterprise environment. Enthusiasm for troubleshooting, a strong understanding of networks, and the willingness to take responsibility for stable and secure operations are required.
Responsibilities:
Operation and further development of central security platforms with a focus on firewalls and proxy services
Management of a highly available environment with numerous virtual firewall instances in data centres
Analysis and resolution of complex incidents and technical faults in second- and third-level support
Planning and implementation of updates, changes, configuration adjustments, and technical optimisations
Further development of network segmentation and implementation of security and zone concepts
Support with VPN, web application firewall, and cloud-related security services as well as technical exchange with internal and external partners
Qualifications:
Completed IT education, ideally supplemented by further training at HF/FH level or comparable practical experience
Several years of experience in engineering and operating enterprise security solutions, especially firewalls and proxy systems
Very good understanding of networks, routing, communication flows, and network architectures
Experience with incident, change, and update processes in complex operational environments
Good knowledge of VPN technologies; experience with web application firewalls or modern secure access concepts is an advantage
Good German skills and good technical English as well as a structured, responsible working style
