Tasks
A flair for numbers: In this role, you review transactions of the Government Council and the Grand Council for their financial impact, conduct cost/benefit considerations, and ensure that the principles of budget management are adhered to.
Written communication skills: You draft statements for the department management. In addition, you contribute to the canton’s budget report.
Shaping solutions: You take on tasks in projects and subprojects, some of which you lead, and develop solutions that take into account the framework conditions of the cantonal financial processes and legal requirements.
Profile
Experience: You have several years of qualified professional experience. Ideally, you are already familiar with public financial budget law. You can quickly grasp complex issues, assess them in the context of the financial budget, and express them concisely in writing. Furthermore, you have project experience.
Personality: Thanks to your analytical, conceptual, and linguistic skills, you work independently and are sociable. You have a quick grasp and a strong assertiveness. You are accustomed to working under deadline pressure and maintain an overview even in hectic situations.
Education: You have completed a higher economic education (University of Applied Sciences or university).
Language: You are confident in the German language. Writing reports is familiar to you.

The Financial Administration Basel-Stadt is attached to the Department of Finance and keeps an eye on the canton’s financial situation. It is the competence centre for finance and accounting, manages the canton’s debts, and ensures liquidity. The Financial Administration supports all departments in the processing and optimisation of business processes.
