Canton of Schaffhausen, Social Welfare Office
The Social Welfare Office of the Canton of Schaffhausen fulfils overarching tasks in the areas of social assistance, alimony support, and victim assistance. It is responsible for the approval, financing, and supervision of institutions for adults with disabilities and is responsible for the approval of residential child and youth facilities and for foster care. The office also manages the specialist unit for equality, violence prevention, and protection against violence. Furthermore, the Social Welfare Office undertakes tasks related to the accommodation, support, integration promotion, and material assistance of persons from the asylum and refugee sector.
The legal service of the Social Welfare Office is an important service unit responsible for advising and supporting the office management and the departments and specialist units of the office in all legal matters within the office's remit. It instructs appeal procedures, drafts decisions, acts as the compensation authority for victim assistance, and serves as the central specialist unit in the area of international alimony collection. Furthermore, it prepares ordinances, consultations, and submissions for the political authorities.

What to expectSupport with all tasks arising in the legal service of the Social Welfare Office, with a focus on:
- Drafting appeal decisions including procedural instruction in the area of social assistance
- Support in issuing orders and submissions to the Government Council and Cantonal Council
- Advising and supporting the heads of departments and specialist units
- Writing correspondence and handling administrative tasks
What you bring
- Law degree (lic. iur. or MLaw)
- Experience in administrative law and in drafting appeal decisions
- Experience in the areas of responsibility of the Social Welfare Office is an advantage
- Knowledge of legislation is an advantage
- Very independent, efficient, and careful working style
- Confident oral and written expression in the German language
- Interest in social policy issues
