The HES-SO Geneva is looking for the Microtechnology programme of the Geneva School of Landscape, Engineering and Architecture:
Electronics Technician
fixed-term contract of up to one year, renewable
maximum grade 13
A member of HES-SO Geneva, the Geneva School of Landscape, Engineering and Architecture (hereinafter HEPIA) has around 350 staff, more than 1,100 students, 9 Bachelor programmes, 4 Master programmes and 3 research institutes.
Within the electronics laboratory attached to the Microtechnology programme, and under the responsibility of the programme manager, the post holder performs a specialised technical support function.
The main duties of the post holder will be:
Management and logistics
- Ensure the proper functioning, maintenance and condition of the laboratory premises (workspaces, storage areas, student workstations, etc.) and the troubleshooting, monitoring and assembly of laboratory equipment
- Manage electronic components (ordering, stock, budget monitoring)
- Ensure maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment
- Ensure compliance of installations with current standards for various users (electrical safety, fire protection)
- Prepare descriptive quotes to be validated by the programme manager
Technical support and realisations within the framework of teaching and research activities
- Provide technical assistance to students and teachers during semester projects, diploma projects and Master’s projects
- Design and produce printed circuit boards using the laboratory’s CAD tools (preference: Altium Designer)
- Maintain CAD tools and associated libraries
- Assemble and test printed circuit boards
- Design and produce simple mechanical parts related to projects (preference: CREO)
Cross-functional tasks
- Provide occasional technical support to other programmes of the school
- Participate in institutional activities (open days, exhibitions)
Profile/Skills:
- Diploma as a higher technical specialist in electronics or equivalent qualification
- At least 3 years of professional experience in industry
- Proficiency in a printed circuit board design CAD tool, preferably Altium Designer
- Proficiency in a mechanical design CAD tool, preferably CREO
- Flexibility, autonomy and organisational skills
- Availability, interpersonal skills and ability to integrate into a team as well as to collaborate closely with teaching staff and students
