The Department of Architecture (D-ARCH) at ETH Zurich, with around 2,500 students and over 40 professorships, is the largest architecture education institution in Switzerland and one of the leading architecture schools worldwide.

To support our team, we are looking for a:

Programme Coordinator (m/f/d) for the architecture study programmes with a workload of 80–100%, starting 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.

Job Description

• You will work closely in partnership and, together with the study coordinator, represent the department's study programmes administratively both internally and externally, including partner schools, professional associations, and interest groups (SIA, BSA). You will be part of the relevant networks.
• You will ensure the overall departmental coordination of all study programmes; in particular, you will be responsible for the planning and coordination processes concerning the architecture study programmes (BSc/MSc ETH ARCH), including the coordination of the semester timetable for both programmes.
• You will be the central contact person for professorships, lecturers/instructors, as well as the coordinators of the other study programmes and doctoral programmes of the department.
• You will work closely with the department management, especially with the study director BSc/MSc ARCH and – for matters concerning the doctorate and continuing education – with the research director.
• You will advise the study director BSc/MSc ARCH both strategically and conceptually, and actively participate in the further development and national/international positioning of the architecture study programmes (BSc/MSc ETH ARCH).
• You will accompany periodic programme evaluations as well as revisions of study-related regulations.
• You will conduct the business of the teaching commission and support admission processes as well as adjustments in the ongoing teaching offer.
• You will prepare and analyse relevant teaching-related data and create planning and decision-making bases as well as target group-appropriate communication materials.
• You will organise programme presentations, coordinate the master’s thesis/exhibition in consultation with the study coordinator and the Dean’s Office.
• Internship coordination: You will be responsible for coordinating and further developing the internship programme in the architecture studies together with the Institute of Architecture and Design. This includes reviewing and approving internship agreements, ensuring compliant credit point allocation, supervising reflection reports, and implementing quality assurance measures. Additionally, you will maintain the internship platform as a knowledge archive and continuously develop the network of practice partners and recognised internship placements.

Profile

We are looking for a strategically minded and operationally strong personality for this key role at the interface of teaching, administration, and academic governance. The position combines leadership responsibility, programme development, as well as complex coordination and advisory tasks in the higher education environment.

• You have strong communication and negotiation skills that enable you to act authoritatively and achieve consensus solutions even in a demanding environment.
• You hold a university degree, preferably in architecture or a related discipline; professional experience, further training, or a doctorate are advantageous but not mandatory.
• You have a profound understanding of academic structures, especially in the area of teaching (BSc, MSc, doctorate); professional and leadership experience in a comparable role is an advantage.
• We also expect a high service orientation, discretion and loyalty, a structured, independent and reliable working style, strong organisational skills, as well as very good written and spoken German and English language skills.
