Role:
On behalf of a client, we are seeking an experienced professional as a Construction Manager Building Construction for a specialised Swiss planning and construction management company focusing on complex building projects, healthcare buildings, and interdisciplinary project execution. You will take on-site construction management and coordination of construction execution for a demanding new hospital build in Zurich and accompany the realisation of a technically and organisationally challenging large-scale project. The focus is on leading the executing companies, schedule and cost control, quality assurance, and coordinating all construction work with the special requirements of an operating hospital. The position combines professional construction management, complex building structures, and demanding site logistics with high personal responsibility and diverse professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Independent construction management of a demanding new hospital build with responsibility for operational coordination and supervision of construction execution
Organisation and control of all site processes considering complex construction procedures, technical requirements, and project-specific conditions
Leadership and coordination of contractors and subcontractors as well as monitoring proper and timely execution
Coordination of interfaces between architecture, specialist planning, client, and executing companies to ensure coordinated project realisation
Creation and monitoring of construction programmes and schedules including progress control, milestone planning, and initiation of appropriate corrective measures
Construction cost control and project controlling including verification of contractor invoices, change management, cost forecasts, and performance records
Quality assurance on site through regular execution checks, review of constructive details, and control of agreed quality standards
Ensuring smooth construction operations considering patient safety, site logistics, access regulations, and hospital operational processes
Coordination of complex technical interfaces between building construction, building services, medical infrastructure, and other specialised trades
Organisation and leadership of construction and coordination meetings including minute-taking, action item management, and follow-up of agreed measures
Monitoring compliance with relevant SIA standards and safety regulations, especially SIA 118 as well as applicable occupational safety and fire protection requirements
Support during construction acceptance and partial handovers including defect management, technical documentation, and coordination with responsible project managers
Qualifications:
Completed training as a certified Construction Manager Building Construction HFP, HF Technician in Construction Planning, or Architect ETH / FH or equivalent recognised qualification
Several years of professional experience in independent construction management of demanding building projects, ideally in large projects, healthcare buildings, or technically complex buildings
Sound knowledge of building construction and execution as well as experience in coordinating various trades and interdisciplinary planning teams
Confident handling of construction cost management, scheduling, and quality assurance including contractor coordination, change processing, and execution control
Good knowledge of Swiss SIA standards and building regulations as well as understanding of increased safety, logistics, and operational requirements in hospital construction
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with digital construction administration; knowledge of Messerli Bauad is an advantage
Good German and Italian language skills in spoken and written form for construction management and collaboration with interdisciplinary project teams
