Systems Engineer - Virtualisation, Network & Data Centre (m/f/d)
Role:
You want to work on a modern infrastructure where Linux, virtualisation, storage and data centre technologies are central? In this role, you operate and further develop a sophisticated IT platform, take care of stable services and ensure that systems can be operated reliably, securely and scalably.
Responsibilities:
You operate and maintain physical server and storage infrastructures at various data centre locations.
You coordinate hardware installations, replacement processes, upgrades as well as rack, cabling and power connections.
You monitor hardware status, capacities, performance metrics and environmental parameters.
You administer Proxmox VE clusters, virtual machines and Linux-based operating systems.
You operate and optimise storage platforms with Ceph, ZFS or comparable technologies.
You install, update and monitor Linux systems as well as central infrastructure components.
You ensure the operation of important network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP and certificate services.
You further develop backup and restore processes and conduct regular disaster recovery tests.
You automate recurring tasks with scripts and support configuration management processes.
You collaborate with colocation partners, hardware manufacturers and external service providers.
You support network and security topics around Cisco, Palo Alto, VPN and connectivity.
You manage Microsoft environments with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and Exchange Online.
You assist with incidents, changes and, after appropriate training, also take on on-call duties.
Qualifications:
You have training in computer science, system engineering or a comparable technical qualification.
You have practical experience in the administration of Linux systems and server infrastructures.
You are familiar with virtualisation solutions such as Proxmox VE, VMware or similar platforms.
You have experience with storage technologies and understand concepts such as high availability, backup and disaster recovery.
You have good knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP and basic network services.
Ideally, you have experience with Ceph, ZFS, Cisco networks, Palo Alto firewalls or VPN solutions.
You can automate recurring tasks with Bash, PowerShell or Python.
You work independently, take responsibility and find sustainable solutions even for complex technical challenges.
You live in Switzerland & communicate confidently in English & German
