About the job
A well-established financial institution (category 5 FINMA) with a small but busy (and very successful) office that has been in Geneva over 40 years. Our Client provides traditional private banking services and is recognized as a highly respected global brand with strong ethics and values, as well as a very good reputation in its field. Strong shareholder behind and credit rating to match. State of the art, modern offices in central Geneva (Rive Gauche). Our Client offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the overall team at C-suite level equivalent for an experienced CFO level candidate, who is also strong on risk and operations.
Head of Finance - Banking
The Head of Finance position will lead a small team and be very hands-on. Your primary focus will be financial controlling, reporting and accounting; secondary focus treasury and risk. In this quasi CFO position, for this category 5 FINMA financial institution, your role will essentially be to ensure the smooth running of accounting, operational, and risk management processes. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is central to overseeing financial operations, compliance, back office and risk management across the board. The role requires full-time presence in the Geneva office; remote work is not available. This position is a rather unique one on the Geneva market place as it offers someone from banking more visibility and responsibility in a smaller structurer with greater variety of tasks as well as real scope for a stimulating career, as part of a close-knit "family".
Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor and manage operational and compliance risks, including asset management and investments.

- Support HR processes, including payroll, social security, and insurance.
- SNB + MIS reporting oversight (FINMA).
- Participate in committees and coordinate projects as requested by management.
- Prepare documentation and reports for the Board of Directors in coordination with the CEO.
Why Join:
- Join a small, agile team with a direct impact on both operations and strategy.
- Work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with a practical, results-oriented approach.
- Contribute to the growth and success of a globally respected financial institution.
- Attractive compensation package, along with a diverse and engaging role.
- The opportunity to lead a highly experienced team with a strong team spirit.
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; a qualified accountant (Brevet Fédéral) is a plus but not essential.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, finance, and Swiss banking risk management (including FINMA reporting) is required.
- Experience as a CFO, Head of Finance, or within a Big 4 firm auditing small banks.
- Hands-on leader with experience managing a small team and overseeing operational processes.
- Previous experience within Swiss Category 4 or 5 banks is preferred.
- While your core background should be in finance and accounting, knowledge of operational risk, credit risk, and treasury management is also required.
- Fluent (native-level) French and a very strong command of English; solid IT skills.
- Ability to commit to a busy, full-time role, with occasional flexibility required; typical working hours are 09:00-18:30 (no remote work).
- Currently based in the Geneva area (cross-border candidates accepted).
