An experienced individual is sought for a demanding IT environment to take responsibility for central database platforms and ensure their architecture, operation and continuous development. The focus is on highly available Microsoft SQL environments as well as modern cloud database solutions.
The position combines technical engineering with architecture, project work and consulting internal stakeholders. There is also the opportunity to contribute to integration topics and to ensure stable and secure platform operation together with internal teams and external operating partners.
Responsibilities:
Design, engineering and operation of central database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB and Oracle including monitoring
Conceptualisation of system architectures and technical solutions as well as definition of required resources
Management of projects, developments and technical lifecycle initiatives considering quality, deadlines and budget
Consulting internal stakeholders on architecture, security, performance and operational issues related to database services
Collaboration with internal teams and external operating partners to ensure availability, quality and security
Participation in integration topics as well as support of team development and taking on on-call duties
Qualifications:
Degree at HF level or higher in computer science, systems engineering or a comparable further education
Extensive experience with highly available Microsoft SQL environments, especially AlwaysOn, performance tuning, security, upgrades and disaster recovery
Good knowledge of T-SQL and PowerShell as well as ideally experience with MariaDB, MySQL or Oracle
Practical experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instances
Interest in integration technologies such as Kafka and IBM webMethods ESB as well as willingness to engage with related topics
Very good German skills and good English skills as well as an independent, team-oriented and solution-focused working style
