Senior IT Architect (m/f/d)
Our client operates in the technology sector and develops IT solutions for the social insurance area. As an experienced recruitment partner in this industry, we know the most exciting employers. If you want to learn more about the company and the position, apply now.Role:
An information system in the social insurance environment must reliably map numerous processes: from processing incoming documents to handling business cases to communication with insured persons. For these processes to function efficiently, specialised applications, interfaces, identity management, and technical platforms must work together seamlessly.
In this role, you take architectural responsibility for a complex system landscape. You connect business requirements with viable technical concepts, further develop the existing architecture, and ensure clear standards across various components and system boundaries.
Responsibilities:
Design overall architecture: You are responsible for the technical architecture of the information system and connect the solution architecture of the business components with the underlying ICT platform
Develop target architecture: You evaluate existing components, define modernisation steps, and plan the decoupling of sub-applications as well as the replacement of outdated system parts
Design integrations: You design communication between heterogeneous systems and define API interfaces, gateway policies, and messaging architectures. You consider both synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns
Secure distributed systems: You define how to handle consistency, transaction boundaries, error states, and restart processes between individual components
Identity and Access Architecture: You design overarching authentication and authorisation concepts, including token flows, directory integrations, and permission provisioning
Ensure operational capability: You design the architecture for high availability, resilience, and reliable operation across multiple instances and stages. This includes observability as well as suitable update and maintenance concepts
Manage suppliers technically: You accompany external implementation partners, review their technical solutions against the defined architecture, and coordinate suitable implementation variants
Address technical risks: You identify architectural debt and technical risks early, assess their impact, and represent necessary decisions to business units and programme management
Establish standards: You define binding technical guidelines for security, compliance, and integration and promote their application beyond the immediate system area
Qualifications:
Completed studies in Computer Science (FH, University or ETH) or a comparable higher technical qualification
Several years of professional experience in IT architecture, ideally with responsibility for complex enterprise or application landscapes
Experience in the technical leadership and management of external suppliers as well as in evaluating technical solution approaches
Solid understanding of distributed systems, especially consistency models, transaction boundaries, and error behaviour
In-depth knowledge of integration architectures with API design, messaging, and synchronous or asynchronous communication
Experience with IBM MQ, Apache Kafka or comparable messaging platforms
Knowledge of identity and access technologies such as OIDC, SAML, LDAP and RBAC
Practical experience with containerised platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift, including tenant and stage concepts
Understanding of operational architectures with observability, availability requirements, as well as update and maintenance strategies
Knowledge of document management systems and workflow engines is a plus
Ability to document architectural decisions in a structured manner, justify them comprehensibly, and represent them even in demanding discussions
Further training or certifications such as ITIL, TOGAF, Arc42 or iSAQB are welcome
Very good German skills and good English skills
