Role:

Are you looking for a position where you don’t just operate networks but also think them through technically? As a Network Engineer: Routing & Firewall, you take responsibility for a demanding infrastructure of routing, switching, and network security. Firewall rule sets, VPN solutions, and dynamic routing with Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) are part of your daily routine. When others are stuck, you analyse faults systematically and find the cause. Your opinion carries weight when it comes to architecture, security, and availability.

Responsibilities:

• You investigate complex performance, latency, and connectivity issues in 2nd and 3rd level support and derive effective measures.

• You take over configuration and operation for site-to-site and remote-access VPNs and continuously optimise routers, switches, and firewalls.

• You drive the further development of security policies, VLANs, and network segmentation and take care of NAT, DNS, and certificates.

• Furthermore, you implement routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF and ensure redundancy and reliable failover.

• You integrate new sites, systems, and services cleanly into the existing architecture and plan migrations as well as lifecycle measures.

• Additionally, you expand monitoring and alerting and keep the technical documentation up to date.

Qualifications:

• You bring several years of experience in network engineering, ideally at least 3 years.

• You are confident with TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6, subnetting, as well as switching topics such as trunking, link aggregation, and STP/RSTP.

• You have hands-on experience with dynamic routing, not just theoretical knowledge.

• In addition, you have solid knowledge of ACLs, VPN technologies, DHCP, and DNS, as well as handling certificates.

• You think in secure network zones, rely on least privilege, and understand high availability concepts in detail.

• You also work analytically and persistently, using logs, packet captures, and tools like Wireshark until the cause is found at the packet level.
