- EPFL's School of Engineering is now looking for an experienced IT Support Technician to join their IT-team onsite at EPFL's campus of Lausanne or Neuchâtel.
- IT support: Deliver IT support to onsite and remote users via walk-ins, emails, tickets, and calls, resolving both basic and complex issues.
- Hardware management: Assist clients in IT equipment purchasing and deployments (Windows, macOS, Linux) using fleet management and other tools. Diagnose and resolve hardware issues.
- Unified communications: Provide support for videoconferencing tools, rooms and events.
- IT classroom support: Set up and troubleshoot IT equipment and applications in IT classrooms.
- Software support and patch management: Install and configure software, troubleshoot application related issues and manage IT security patching for end-user machines.
- Network Access: Manage user access to EPFL network and resolve connectivity issues.
- Process Improvement: Automate tasks to get rid of toil e.g. by developing scripts for workflow automation.
- Documentation: Actively maintain the IT documentation - both internal and client facing - under the responsibility of the support team.
- IT Projects: Participate in IT infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and faculty-wide rollouts (e.g., Windows 11 transition, new email systems).
- Security: Contribute to IT security e.g. by enabling automated updates and taking care of hardware and software life-cycle.
Required qualifications:
- Proven experience in IT support with a strong customer service approach.
- Proficiency in deploying, managing and troubleshooting Linux, macOS and Windows machines and related software.
- Experience with IT hardware management (laptops, workstations, PC components).
- Experience in scripting (Linux: bash; Windows: batch/powershell).
- Knowledge of fleet management tools (such as Workspace One) as well as concepts such as AD, LDAP, GPO.
- Experience with AV and videoconferencing tools (e.g., Zoom).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g. IP addressing, firewalls, port openings, VPN).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in programming languages and tools (e.g. Python, git).
- Familiarity with IT support ticket management systems (ServiceNow) and support workflow.
- Knowledge of ITIL or similar industry best practices (incident / change management).
- Experience leading small-to-medium size IT projects.

- Minimum of 5 years of professional IT support experience.

- Work location: either EPFL's Campus at Neuchâtel OR EPFL's Campus at Lausanne.
- The work may occasionally require working also onsite at EPFL's other campuses (travel is compensated).
