Role:
On behalf of the client, we are looking for an experienced professional as Senior Construction Manager: Building Construction for the realisation of demanding construction projects in the Basel region. You independently manage smaller and medium-sized projects or take responsibility for defined sub-projects in larger undertakings from tendering and awarding to commissioning and handover. The focus is on operational site management, schedule and cost control, site logistics, and quality assurance. Modern methods such as Lean Construction Management (LCM) support efficient and structured project execution.
Responsibilities:
Independent construction management and coordination of building construction projects as well as on-site site leadership
Assuming project or sub-project responsibility for smaller, medium, and complex larger construction projects
Supporting projects from cost estimation and budgeting through tendering and awarding to execution and handover
Creating and managing execution schedules, construction programmes, and site logistics concepts
Coordinating and leading contractors, specialist planners, suppliers, and other project participants
Preparing specifications and tender documents as well as conducting bid comparisons and supporting awarding processes
Responsibility for cost planning, cost control, forecasts, and change order management during the realisation phase
Conducting and leading construction meetings, tracking pending issues, and documenting construction progress
Monitoring quality, schedules, occupational safety, and contract-compliant execution on site
Applying Lean Construction Management (LCM) to optimise construction processes, interfaces, and schedule control
Reviewing quantities, extra work, change orders, and contractor invoices
Coordinating acceptances, commissioning, defect rectification, and building handover including final documentation
Qualifications:
Completed construction-related training, for example as draftsperson EFZ specialising in architecture, with further training as construction manager, technician HF building construction, or degree in architecture/civil engineering FH/ETH
At least 3 years of professional experience in construction management of building projects in Switzerland; for senior level, correspondingly solid project experience
Practical experience in tendering, budgeting, awarding, cost control, and change order management
Sound knowledge of Swiss construction processes and relevant SIA standards
Experience with schedule planning, site logistics, and cost control, ideally complemented by Lean Construction Management
Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with Messerli BAUAD or comparable construction administration and cost tools
Very good German language skills spoken and written
