Role:
On behalf of a client, we are looking for a qualified specialist as a structural engineer for structural planning and statics for the development and calculation of demanding structural solutions in Swiss building construction. You will contribute to the development of technically and economically optimised structural concepts and take on static calculations, dimensioning, and the review of structural planning documents. You will accompany construction projects from the preliminary design through the execution planning to the completion of the shell construction and work closely with architects, specialist planners, and executing companies. The position is also suitable for graduates with a completed civil engineering degree and offers professional development opportunities up to independent project management.
Responsibilities:
Structural planning for building construction: Participation in the development of structural concepts and static systems for new construction, conversion, and other building projects
Static calculations: Performing load assumptions, internal force calculations, proof of load-bearing capacity, and serviceability verifications
Structural dimensioning: Dimensioning of ceilings, columns, beams, walls, and other load-bearing components considering project-specific requirements
Concrete and steel construction: Handling structural issues in reinforced concrete, steel, and, if applicable, timber construction according to relevant Swiss structural standards
Structural concepts and variant studies: Investigation and comparison of structural solution variants regarding load behaviour, material use, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness
Calculation models: Creation and evaluation of static calculation models using appropriate structural and statics software
Plan review and technical documentation: Preparation and checking of formwork, reinforcement, and construction plans as well as static calculation reports and technical proofs
Interdisciplinary coordination: Coordination of structural planning with architects, building services planners, and other specialist engineers
Execution support for shell construction: Technical support during the implementation of load-bearing structures, clarification of execution questions, and supervision of shell construction works
Project execution according to SIA: Participation in relevant SIA project phases from preliminary design to realisation, including technical planning and execution control
Project management support: Assistance with scheduling, technical coordination, project organisation, and processing of planning assignments
Standards and quality assurance: Ensuring compliance with relevant SIA structural standards, especially SIA 260, 261, 262, and 263, as well as project-specific quality requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Completed studies as a civil engineer FH / ETH / TU with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably specialising in structural engineering or structural planning
Professional experience: Initial practical experience in structural planning, statics, or structural project work is an advantage; graduates and career starters are also welcome
Statics and structural dimensioning: Solid theoretical knowledge in structural mechanics, strength of materials, structural analysis, and dimensioning of load-bearing structures
Building materials and construction: Technical fundamentals in reinforced concrete construction, steel construction, and structural detailing as well as the interaction of different structural systems
Standards and calculation software: Knowledge of relevant SIA structural standards and basics in using statics and structural calculation programmes
Planning and project execution: Knowledge in preparing and reviewing technical planning documents, specialist coordination, and relevant SIA project phases
Languages: Fluent German and English skills in spoken and written form; additional language skills are an advantage
Benefits:
- Attractive training and development opportunities
- Interesting and varied tasks/projects
- Experienced and dynamic team
- Market- and performance-based salaries
