The Social Welfare Office of the Canton of Schaffhausen fulfils overarching tasks in the areas of social assistance, victim support, and advance maintenance payments. It manages the Equal Opportunities, Violence Prevention and Protection Office and is responsible for the approval, financing, and supervision of institutions for adults with disabilities as well as for residential child and youth services. Furthermore, the office undertakes tasks on behalf of the federal government related to accommodation, support, integration promotion, and material assistance for persons from the asylum and refugee sector.

In the Housing area of asylum and refugee support, we are seeking a fixed-term maternity cover from 1 October 2026 to 31 August 2027

Maternity Cover for Head of Housing (m/f), 80-100%

• Professional and personnel management of the Supported Living (BeWo) area
• Leadership and control of the directly subordinate team leader (housing support) as well as the real estate specialists
• Ensuring needs-based housing supply and occupancy
• Active management of housing procurement and housing administration
• Optimisation of processes and quality standards in the housing area
• Ensuring binding and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. social counselling, finance, authorities, property management)

• Several years of leadership experience in a complex and dynamic environment
• Several years of professional experience in the real estate sector is an advantage
• Experience in managing work processes and cross-departmental interfaces
• Strong implementation skills, decisiveness, and assertiveness
• Structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented working style
• Excellent communication skills in dealing with various stakeholders
