Linux Network Engineer (m/f/d)
Role:
You are deeply at home in the Linux world and interested in high-performance network and telecommunications infrastructures? You want to automate complex systems, further develop highly available platforms and solve demanding network problems directly at the source? In this role, you combine profound Linux knowledge with IP network expertise and telecommunications technology.
Responsibilities:
You develop and maintain productive scripts and tools to automate routing tasks, network monitoring, operational processes and the provisioning of large participant bases.
You automate the configuration and operation of redundant production environments and ensure a consistent system landscape with configuration management.
You plan and implement operating system, kernel and service upgrades as well as migrations of critical components with appropriate strategies to avoid downtime.
You manage the Linux-based network infrastructure including IP routing, iptables/nftables, VRRP, keepalived, VLAN as well as dynamic routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
You optimise the performance of VoIP, SIP and mobile data connections, integrate monitoring metrics into systems like Grafana and analyse network packets and signalling processes in case of faults. In the rotating on-call service, you support the stable operation of business-critical services.
Qualifications:
You have solid practical experience in the administration of Linux systems, for example based on Debian or comparable distributions.
You confidently programme scripts for system integration and automation and have experience with configuration management as well as infrastructure as code.
You possess in-depth knowledge of IP networks, TCP/IP, the OSI layers, Linux networking tools and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
You have practically implemented productive system upgrades, live migrations or staged deployments and know methods to minimise interruptions.
You analyse technical problems systematically and also familiarise yourself with complex network and service errors. Knowledge of SIP, VoIP, Wireshark, PCAP analyses or mobile core networks is especially welcome. Experience with virtualisation, containers and Linux databases complements your profile.
