About the job
Junior Site Manager Microtunnelling (m/f/d)
Junior Site Manager for Pipe Jacking and Microtunnelling (m/f/d)
Specialist civil engineering · 100% · Northeastern Switzerland · Construction sites in Switzerland and neighbouring countries
Under the lake. Under the motorway. Without a single trench.
In pipe jacking, civil engineering becomes an art of engineering. Only a few in Switzerland master this discipline. You can become one of them.
The client
A family-run, internationally active company and specialist in trenchless pipeline construction: microtunnelling, horizontal directional drilling and trenchless rehabilitation for water, wastewater, energy, district heating and communication. The Swiss site is small and efficient. Here, no one is just a number, the tone is direct and respectful, and the market is growing.
Your role
- You will start in site management and gradually take on your own construction sites.
- You will learn the craft on site from experienced site managers and the processes directly from site management.
- You will assist in work preparation, quality assurance, documentation and acquisition.
- You are the on-site contact and advisor for clients, planners and suppliers. You will enter the shaft when necessary and intervene if something goes off track.
- You will solve geological and geotechnical problems with the team, even if the solution is not on the table after three hours.
Your profile
- Completed degree in civil engineering FH or ETH. This is mandatory. Those who first trained on site, for example as a bricklayer, are very welcome.
- Initial experience or clear focus in civil engineering, whether from a company, engineering or planning office. Recent graduates are also welcome.
- Curiosity for geology, geotechnics, construction and process engineering
- German at C1 level, you understand Swiss German without problems
- Driving licence category B
- Hunger to learn, drive and willingness to take responsibility on site
Honestly
This is not a nine-to-five job. You travel a lot and stay away from home one to two nights per week. In jacking, shift work is occasionally required, up to 11 pm at the latest. You can plan for one fixed evening per week, but not a rigid programme on five evenings. Those who like this stay here for a long time. This is shown by the many long-standing employees.
What you get
- Management position with structured induction of two to three months, including assignments at the group headquarters
- A real career path: from site manager to project manager and up to site management
- Salary CHF 90,000-110,000, depending on education and experience, paid in 13 monthly salaries
- A pension fund where the employer pays 60% of the contributions
- About 7 weeks off: 5 weeks holiday plus company holidays over Christmas
- Friday afternoons the construction site is quiet. This creates flexibility in working hours.
- Company car, notebook, smartphone and company credit card
- Targeted further training
- A team that celebrates together: summer party, ski weekend and Christmas party
