Agricultural Rotating Workshop Manager

Do you wish to progress within one of the largest agricultural estates in the Canton of Vaud and work in both animal and plant production environments?

The estate of the Etablissements de la plaine de l'Orbe (EPO) includes, among others, approximately 353 hectares of cultivated land, 300 cattle (dairy and fattening), 350 pigs and 5000 chickens as well as a machinery fleet specific to the establishment.

To complete our team, we are looking for a future agricultural rotating workshop manager within the Etablissements de la plaine de l'Orbe. In this role, you will support and train detainees in various agricultural trades. You will also be responsible for the care of animals and crops through our different workshops (estate, vineyards, piggery, poultry slaughterhouse, mill, etc.).

• Train and supervise detainees in the agricultural workshops where you also provide cover;

• Ensure the care of animals (cattle, poultry, pigs) and the cultivation work based on the instructions of the sector manager, respecting legal hygiene and occupational safety standards;

• Guarantee animal welfare and the application of directives concerning the use of veterinary products and strictly apply the Animal Protection Act;

• Ensure the supervision, safety and monitoring of detainees working in the workshop and maintain discipline;

• Prepare behaviour reports and regular assessments on the skills and progress of supervised persons and collaborate with stakeholders from various sectors (social, security, professional, etc.) to ensure appropriate care of detainees.

• Holder of a Federal VET Diploma in an agricultural trade;

• 10 years of professional experience in agriculture and/or horticulture;

• Federal certificate as a detention officer or commitment to obtain it during employment;

• Proficiency in French, both spoken and written;

• Comfortable managing a group and able to motivate teams;

• Good mental and physical aptitude to handle sometimes difficult situations or conflicts while maintaining appropriate professional distance;

• Proficient with common IT tools;

• Ability to manage stress;

• Good pedagogical skills, strong emotional control and open-mindedness;

• Holder of a driving licence.

Our employment conditions require you to be Swiss or hold a C permit, free of debt enforcement proceedings (an extract from the Debt Collection Office must be presented during the process), and have a clean criminal record.
