Job Description
The General Directorate of Agriculture, Viticulture and Veterinary Affairs (DGAV) is currently seeking a Head of the Phytosanitary Inspectorate & Primary Plant Production Control for one of its departments.
By joining the General Directorate of Agriculture, Viticulture and Land Improvements (DAGRI), you take responsibility for one of its six sectors. As head of the Phytosanitary Inspectorate and Primary Plant Production Control division, you lead an entity at the heart of the health of Vaud's crops. You manage a team and ensure the financial stability of your sector. You address a future challenge by directing the cantonal strategy for managing PFAS and other contaminants in agricultural products intended for human consumption. You develop knowledge transfer, training, and scientific monitoring. You represent your sector to internal and external partners.
Responsibilities
Lead the entity and manage the human and financial resources entrusted to it.
Ensure phytosanitary surveillance and control of primary plant production in Vaud agriculture.
Develop and implement the PFAS action plan for farms within the framework of the cantonal strategy (under development) for persistent pollutants.
Develop and lead knowledge transfer, training, as well as scientific and technical monitoring.
Represent the entity, establish and maintain collaborations with internal and external partners.

Qualifications
University degree, EPFL or HES Engineer diploma, or equivalent qualification;
Training in crisis management (an asset);
At least five years of experience with solid theoretical and practical knowledge in the phytosanitary and agricultural field;
At least three years of experience in team management;
Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of German (an asset);
Sense of responsibility, leadership, decisiveness as well as analytical and synthesis skills;
Diplomatic skills, ease in interpersonal relations and good writing abilities;
Possession of a vehicle to be made available to the service for various field trips throughout the canton.
