Training plan
The apprenticeship lasts 4 years and leads to the Federal VET Certificate (CFC).
Theoretical training:
Courses are given at the Technical and Vocational School (EPTM) in Sion, one or two days per week.
Practical training:
The first 2 years of your apprenticeship will take place at the workshop-school of the Intercantonal Professional School of Chemistry (EPIC) in Monthey. The last 2 years will be spent in-company at CIMO, under the supervision of a trainer.
Inter-company courses (CIE) take place at the Technical and Vocational School (EPTM) in Sion.
The profession
At the end of the first 2 years at the EPIC workshop-school where you will have become familiar with the basics of the trade, you will join one of the sectors of the CIMO Mechanical Workshop.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be introduced to various areas of expertise such as assembly, machining and pumps.
Your work will consist of ensuring the repair, overhaul, inspection and monitoring of industrial equipment.
Future prospects
After obtaining your CFC, you can consider the following further qualifications:

- Federal certificate
- Higher technical diploma ES
- Bachelor of Arts HES
- Etc.
After a few years of practice and depending on your skills, you can access positions of responsibility such as team leader, sector manager, or department head.
