Training plan
The apprenticeship lasts 4 years and leads to the Federal VET Certificate (CFC).
Theoretical training:
Courses are given at the Professional School for Craft and Community Services (EPASC) in Martigny, one or two days per week.
Practical training:
Practical training in the company takes place at CIMO, under the supervision of a trainer.
Inter-company courses (CIE) take place at the Technical and Trades Professional School (EPTM) in Sion.
The profession
During your apprenticeship, you will be introduced to four options within the profession: pipework, boilermaking, locksmithing and plastics.
In these four areas, you will take measurements, produce unique parts according to 2D and 3D models, use advanced machines (CNC, robot, etc.), perform welding using various processes, manufacture supports and install them on different sites.
The core of the profession consists of planning and carrying out installations as well as complex industrial parts and equipment.
Future prospects
After obtaining your CFC, you can consider the following further qualifications:
- Welding specialist diploma
- Federal diploma
- Federal certificate
- Bachelor of Science HES
- Etc.
After a few years of practice and depending on your skills, you can access positions of responsibility such as team leader, workshop manager, production manager.
