Do you want to actively shape the technical future of a business-critical information system? In this role, you combine architectural work at the application level with the technical platform beneath. You develop solution approaches for new requirements, drive the modernisation of a mature system landscape, and ensure that integrations, security mechanisms, and operational processes are sustainable in the long term.
Responsibilities:
You develop and evaluate solution architectures for new projects, business requirements, and technical enhancements
You are responsible for the overall technical architecture of the information system – from individual business components to the underlying ICT platform
You design the target architecture and develop the modernisation roadmap, for example by decoupling sub-applications and replacing outdated components
You conceptualise the integration architecture and define API designs, gateway policies, and messaging topologies for synchronous and asynchronous communication
You consider transaction boundaries, consistency models, as well as error and restart behaviour between distributed components
You further develop the architecture for authentication and authorisation and define overarching token flows, directory integrations, and permission processes
You ensure that the system landscape is designed for availability, resilience, and operability across multiple instances and stages
You define requirements for observability, monitoring, update, and maintenance strategies
You manage external suppliers technically, assess their implementation against the agreed architecture, and negotiate suitable solution approaches
You make technical risks and existing architectural debt transparent and represent necessary measures to business units and programme management
You define technical standards for security, compliance, and integration and ensure their consistent application
Qualifications:
You have a degree in computer science or a comparable qualification
You have several years of experience in an architectural position and have already managed external suppliers technically
You think in distributed systems and are familiar with consistency models, transaction boundaries, and error behaviour between components
You bring solid experience in the integration architecture of heterogeneous system landscapes
You know API design, messaging topologies, as well as synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns
Ideally, you have worked with IBM MQ, Kafka, or comparable messaging technologies
You have knowledge of modern identity and access architectures such as OIDC, SAML, LDAP, and RBAC
You have experience with containerised enterprise platforms like Kubernetes or OpenShift, including tenant and stage separation
You understand the requirements of a modern operational architecture and are familiar with topics such as observability, availability, and maintenance strategies
Experience with document management systems and workflow engines is an advantage
You can document, argue, and represent technical decisions understandably to different stakeholders
You communicate very well in German and have good English skills
Benefits:
- Flexible working hours
- Above-average holidays and days off
- Comfortable office with modern infrastructure
- Contribution or takeover of mobile phone and notebook
- Attractive training and development opportunities
